Playwrights are invited to submit a 1-Page Play
by November 20, 2010
using the theme “Silence” as inspiration.
The top 15 entries will be displayed in the lobby of the theatre during the run of Silence by Moira Buffini (Dec 2-18). Audience members will have the opportunity to view these entries and vote for their favorites based on visual, text, and content merit.
These 15 plays will also be presented as Staged Readings on Sunday, December 12, 2010. This event is free and open to the public. Audience members will also be able to vote on their favorites. The afternoon includes a performance by Guest Artist Whistler in The Dark.
Please use these guidelines for submission
- Submissions open to all genders
- Submit one copy via snailmail (it will not be returned to you) or email via .pdf. No other formats will be accepted. PO Box 551 Tyngsboro, MA 01879 info@ganemeed.org
- This Submission Form is for you to use, if you choose. You don’t have to.
- 1-side of 1 sheet of 8.5″ x 11″ white paper. You may not mount or frame your piece and nothing may extend beyond the edge of the paper. You may not build onto, bend, fold, or manipulate your piece of paper in anyway to create a sculpture. This is two-dimensional visual art only.
- Texts and images in all colors are okay.
- You must have a ½” margin on all four sides
- We must be able to read the text without the use of a magnifying glass.
- Two character maximum, any genders.
- Remember to consider the theme “Silence” as your inspiration and do your best to align your play with our mission to advance the role of women in theatre.
- Include your name and title as part of your 1-Page. We will not be displaying a “label” or “tag” next to your piece.
- Do not include your email, phone number, or address on your piece. Submit your contact information on a separate piece of paper, or in the body of your email.
- You must submit (postmarked) by Nov 20, 2010.
Suggestions to the Playwrights
- Get creative. Take risks. Submit as many as you want.
- This is the combining of three great arts: text, visual, and performance. The presentation of your piece on its single sheet of paper is just as important as the text itself.
Judging Process has Two Rounds
- Round One – GAN-e-meed Theatre Project will choose the top 15 plays to display in the lobby during the run of Silence.
- Round Two – Audience members will vote for their favorites on display. All 15 will be presented as readings on Sunday, December 12th. Audience members will continue to vote on their favorites.
- The winners will be given fully staged productions during the 2011 season.
DEADLINE is Nov 20, 2010
