Behind every successful director is a phenomenal Stage Manager.  Join local Stage Managers in a panel discussion as they explore the challenges, rewards, and best-kept secrets of successful and happy stage managers.  After the panel, there will be practical sessions addressing specific skill sets.  For new, learning, and old hats alike.

Confirmed Panelists:

Deb Rafson is a Boston-based Equity Stage Manager. Her professional stage management experience
includes work at Stoneham Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, Brandeis University, the Publick Theatre,
and 8 ½ years with the Boston company of the Off-Broadway hit Blue Man Group. She is also a theatre
administrator and spent 4 seasons as the Management Associate for New Repertory Theatre. These
days, she can be found applying her stage management skills to the world of higher education as the
Director of Operations for Graduate & Professional Programs at Emmanuel College. She is also a proud member of the Board of Trustees for Stoneham Theatre. Debra holds of Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University, a Master of Science in Arts Administration from Boston University, and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from Emmanuel College.

Amanda Sheehan is a Freelance Non-Equity Stage Manager living in Boston who spends her summers company managing at the New London Barn Playhouse in New Hampshire. She has also dabbled in props design and is currently learning about marketing and pr for small theatres. She will be graduating from Dartmouth College with a Master’s in Liberal Studies, creative writing focus, in June 2013.

The Career Labs are open to all genders.

Career Labs create a space for connection, skill-building, risk-taking, and education.  To make the most of your attendance, bring your business cards or show cards, be ready to actively network, and feel free to hover near a GAN-e-median if you need a more personal introduction to the crowd.  We will gladly introduce you to the many brilliant Career Labs attendees.

Zen Update

In an ongoing effort to balance the busy lives of the GAN-e-medians, Career Labs are being simplified.  We will no longer be providing munchies and coffee.  Please feel free to bring your own snacks as needed.  We also appreciate your ability to either register in advance or bring exact change.  With your help, we can continue to offer innovative and succesful Career Labs.
